The designation is earned by completing a national program of specialized and advanced education. Coker joined Prudential Palms in January following a career in resort management, vacation rentals and vacation ownership. Robertson is an agent in the firm's Palmer Ranch office in Sarasota. Two Wagner Realty employees recently attended the Florida Realtors' annual convention. Ron Cornette, Wagner's marketing and training director, and agent Cindy Greco, the Manatee Association of Realtors' president, attended seminars and also staffed the international marketing booth for Manatee County. Barry Grooms of RE/Max Alliance Group has been elected 2011 vice president of Florida Realtors' 13th district, which covers Manatee, Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee and Sarasota counties. He will update local associations on national and state real estate-related issues during his one-year term. He previously was a Manatee Association of Realtors director and president. Ron Allen was elected chair of the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Board of Trustees at its regular meeting in August. Allen has served on the board since May 1999 and recently served as vice chairman. He succeeds trustee Steve Harner, who has served as chair for the past three years, and is serving as vice chair of the board. Allen is president of NDC Construction Co. in Bradenton. He served as chair of the SCF Presidential Search Committee in 2008. Siesta Key Oyster Bar has named Ryan Schmidt as general manager. Schmidt is from Arizona and has extensive experience in the food and beverage business. The restaurant has also hired a new assistant general manager, Amy Kowolski, to help with growth and work with community relations. Thomas Seguin, master gemologist appraiser and diamond broker of Suncoast Gem Laboratories in Bradenton, recently attended The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers' 34th annual mid-year conference in Providence-Warwick, R.I. This year's conference concentrated on antique and period jewelry, which appraisers confront on a daily basis. Lectures were given on a variety of topics. There were also important presentations on vintage wristwatches and embellishments on antique pocket watches. Sarasota attorney Tom Icard recently presented "Selecting, Preparing, Attacking and Defending Expert Witnesses" at the third annual Construction Law Institute of the Florida Bar in Orlando. He spoke as part of a panel discussion on advanced litigation skills training. Chips Shore, Manatee County clerk of the circuit court, was awarded the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Manatee County Port Authority's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
